Lance Clayton (played by Robin Williams) is a single father, unpublished author, who always dreams to be a famous writer and high school English teacher. He tried unsuccessfully to have ties with inhumane, inefficient, sex-obsessed teenage son Kyle (played by Daryl Sabara). Had almost no friends, Kyle is a student at the same school, where Lance teaches a poetry class unpopular.

Because of poor academic performance, Kyle, Kyle Lance advise clients that need a special school. One night, Kyle die of autoerotic accidental suffocation in his bedroom. Lance stages of Kyle’s death scene as a suicide by hanging, creating a deep “farewell letter” that he leaves on the body. A classmate gives the farewell letter of the criminal records and publishes them in the school newspaper. The paper proposes an agreement with the students and teachers, and enjoy the attention of his letter was finally received, produced and published Lance “Kyle’s” Diary of the last days. A much younger woman teacher on the staff, the Lance, she was out of convenience, Lance begins to give her undivided attention.

The magazine also draws the attention of publishers are interested in the work of Lance, and Lance countries, a TV appearance on national broadcast talk show. The film was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival, which is the site of the “perverse and attaches great refreshing original comedy, love, loss and the shame of our quest for curiosity.” He also commented on the performance of Robin Williams described as remarkable. Sandra L. Frey watched the film the appearance of Teen Angst, and said the film also reminds the public that adults are capable of strong fear for their own offerings. Devin Faraci called the film “brilliant” and “genius”. Paul Fischer described it as one of the best films of the year. Ben Lyons, Ben Mankiewicz, both gave the film a positive review on At The Movies. Mankiewicz greeted Power Daryl Sabara as exceptionally well done, said: “The film surprisingly funny script,” and especially as a “gem”. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave World’s Greatest Dad 3 of 4 stars, but noted that the material could be even darker in their satire, and he asked whether it was the intention of the director.
