François Costello is in Hong Kong and wants to find job as a cook. In fact he is there becauseof the death of his daughter and to revenge his murdered familyby hired assassins. Twenty years ago, Costello is a professional assassin.

Costello if the memory is fading, three professional assassins, Kwai, Chu and Lok, he wanted to help plan his full revenge. Arrival in Hong Kong, soon to lose in the recognition of friend and foe.

Vengeance is 2009 neo-noir film by Johnnie To crime resulted from a script by Wai Ka-Fai. A co-production between Hong Kong and France, Vengeance is an international ensemble cast that Johnny Hallyday, Sylvie Testud, Simon Yam, Anthony Wong, Lam Suet, Lam Ka Tung, Maggie Siu, Cheung Siu-Fai, and contains. The film was produced by ARP Selection in France, together with Hong Kong Media Asia Films production, and Milky Way Image.

Vengeance tells the story of Francis Costello, a French assassin-turned-cook, whose daughter, son and grandchildren were killed by a gang of Triads. Costello heads to Hong Kong to pursue an intensive quest for revenge, assisted by three associate Hitmen. The film has the trademark use of stylized violence, but also elements of film noir and heroic bloodshed, a sub-genre of Hong Kong action cinema.

The idea of Johnnie To Head An English language film with the ARP Co-founder and the French producers are Michele and Laurent Petín, Alain Delon had in mind for the lead. In 2006, after the Petín approached him with their idea, a meeting with Alain Delon, who is not interested in the film. The higher recommended Petín Hallyday Johnny Hallyday and was cast in the lead after a meeting with the director in early 2008. Filming for Vengeance began in November 2008 and closed in February 2009, filming took place in Hong Kong and Macau, with a team, especially in Hong Kong. Revenge for the prestigious Palme d’Or Award at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival and was theatrically released in France on May 20, 2009, after their positive critical reaction at Cannes. The film was released theatrically in Hong Kong on August 20, 2009 and in North America at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival premiere.
