In the middle of the night a child is born in a castle in Narnia. He is the son of the ruler Miraz, who reigns over the people of the Telmarines, while Crown Prince Caspian is still young. Miraz sends some soldiers to Prince Caspian in order to kill them and to secure himself and his family the throne.

The young man is warned, however, dismissed by his teacher and Doctor Cornelius. Fleeing into the forest, he meets some Narnians which the Telmarines really extinct, or even consider to be mythical creatures. But the soldiers from Miraz is Caspian on his heels and attack him. In desperation Caspian blows his horn, which gave him shortly before his departure, Cornelius and summons the help. According to legend, it once belonged to the Golden Age of Narnia Queen Susan (Susan Pevensie).

At the same time in England in 1941: A year has passed since the first adventure ended involuntarily the Pevensie siblings. The children are in the middle of everyday life, only Peter is tired of his life in England. (Understandable, since the young High King back in as a child is treated.) On the way to school in a subway station, they are suddenly seized by a magical wind. The gray world around them dissolves, and they find themselves on a beach in Narnia. In the hidden treasure of the castle, they find their weapons again, and so they set out to find out what happened during their absence.

Meanwhile, Miraz is set by the Council of his people under pressure. In particular, Lord Sopespian do not want to believe that Caspian disappearance is coincidental. Miraz presented to the Council the captured dwarf Trumpkin and invents the excuse that the crown prince had been kidnapped by Narnians. Miraz sends two soldiers to throw the dwarf into the sea, this is rescued at the last second of the Pevensie siblings.

Meanwhile Caspian wakes up in the construction of truffle hunters, a friendly, talking badger. He wants to fly, but recognize the horn and is aware of its responsibility.
