Hunger (2008) DVDrip

The inmates in the maximum security wing of the Maze prison to be recognized as political prisoners. In protest, they refuse to wear prison clothes, smearing the cell walls with excrement and not wash. The prison guards and specially summoned police officers abusing inmates regularly. One of the guards, Ray Lohan, then is shot by an assassin. Bobby Sands announces in an interview with the priest Mohan, join together with other prisoners on hunger strike to enforce their demands. Moran refers to this as a suicide, and attempted to dissuade Sands from the idea, but this is determined, if necessary, to sacrifice his life for his political goals. After nine weeks, he died of malnutrition.

The core of the film is the conversation between Bobby Sands and the priest Mohan, which was filmed in a 17 minutes long plan sequence. [Lost 1] Actor Michael Fassbender while shooting under medical supervision, 40 pounds of weight in order to realistically be able to starvation Sands.

Hunger celebrated on the 15th May 2008 at the Cannes Film Festival’s world premiere, where he was awarded the Golden Camera. In October 2008, the film came in several European countries in the cinemas in the U.S. he was seen in selected cinemas in too. In Germany, was published in July 2009 and arrived first on DVD in August of that year in some movie theaters.
