Bartleby Gaines (Justin Long) is a high-school senior, who creates, inter alia, mischief, false ID cards. His gifts does not apply to notes, however, and he received rejections from all universities and colleges he applies. In an attempt to the approval of his step father (Mark Derwin) to try that Bartleby creates a fake university, South Harmon Institute of Technology.
