8mm (1999) DVDrip

Private detective Tom Welles (Nicolas Cage) takes one day by a wealthy widow – Mrs. Christian – an unusual case. When the old woman and her attorney Daniel Longdale (Anthony Heald), he gets a Super 8 film (see 8 mm), which uproots him from his normal life so far. It is allegedly a snuff film in which a masked man torturing a girl to death. Welles’ Order now is to verify the authenticity of this film, so he begins the search for the manufacturers.

In Los Angeles Welles learns Max (Joaquin Phoenix) who know an employee of a sex-shop. After lengthy investigations Welles finds out the name of the murdered girl and meets the hapless porn producer Eddie Poole (James Gandolfini). After an interview, he begins to shade Poole. He meets up with the producer Dino Velvet, he with the production of a “very special BDSM film” forward.

Has come through a video that he has seen before, the detective one step further: The man who attacked a woman with a knife, had the same tattoo on his hand, like the murderer in the film, which has led to the order. Now, Welles insists that will play the man with the nickname “Machine” in his snuff film. He sent Max home and promised to visit him. Max is obviously disappointed and appears as it seems, the journey home. The meeting in a remote warehouse fails because Daniel Longdale is present and, therefore, reveals Welles. Machine overwhelmed Welles and chains him to a bed.

One learns that makes Longdale with Eddi and Velvet common things. Longdale was paid to the widow of the man who was responsible Welles, one million U.S. dollars, so that he worried a snuff film. Since Longdale but could find no such film, he produced one – the girl was indeed murdered so cruelly. Welles is forced – Max was taken hostage – to retrieve the film, and watch, he must be destroyed like this. Max is murdered after he Velvet “is relieved of his suffering” – Machine cut his throat.

Welles is now bringing change in the concept of the criminals by informing them that Longdale has received one million U.S. dollars from Mr. Christian. Since Longdale nothing had said that it was made by Eddie, Velvet and Machine to task. He pulls out a pistol and tried to flee. Dino Velvet succeeds, however, with his crossbow to shoot him in the chest. Longdale fired again at Velvet and hits him in the neck, making him fatally injured. Both die, Welles may be released, injured Machine hard on the stomach and needs to escape before Eddie.

When Welles Mrs. Christian reports on his findings, it commits suicide. By a butler, he receives two envelopes full of money, one destined for him, the other for the girl’s mother.

Welles now decided to end this story. He is overwhelmed and wants to flee Eddie than this. The detective forced Eddie to show him the place where the girl was murdered, too – it is a tumbledown shack on a hill. Eddie portrays Welles, what happened that night. He is then crushed by Welles. Welles binds Eddie and threatened to kill him. Welles, but does not pull the trigger on the courage and leaves Eddie alone in the hut. He calls the mother of the murdered girl and inform it of the awful truth. Then he asks her formally for permission to take revenge on the murderers. He storms back into the hut and suggests repeatedly with his gun at Eddie. During this dies, he throws the porn videos on Eddie and lets them, along with the tapes up in flames.

Now he turns “on Machine”. Welles finds out where “living machine” and what is his real name. He goes to the house and notes that “Machine” still lives with his mother. When the mother goes away, he is preparing for a final action. Armed, he creeps through the house – and is discovered by “Machine” and surprised. In the ensuing scuffle, both rush out of the window into the garden, where “machine” can overwhelm Welles initially, but is then surprised himself. Gunpoint Welles’ Machine forced “to take off his mask. He recognizes that this is a “perfectly normal” people and that there is “no mystery behind these things” there. “Machine” throws a knife at the surprised Welles, but this kills the “Machine” in a duel.

Welles has thus carried out his orders. He is there again for his family, but continues to be a detective. At the end of the film Welles opens a letter from the mother of the murdered girl who thanks him for his work.
